Thankful 30...

Day Eleven (A day late)

I'm thankful for the few minutes in the morning that I have to myself before all the boys in my house wake up. I love those few minutes of solitude that I can spend sipping my coffee and fooling around on the computer. I love my family, but I really love that early half hour of peace and quiet too. Even if it is at 4:45 A.M. :)

Thankful 30...

Day Ten

I love days when my boys get their hair cut. Ms. Tiffany always gives them mohawks after she cuts their hair, and they look so darn cute. Thank you for being so fabulous, Ms. T!

Thankful 30...

Today, I am especially thankful for my brothers. They were fun to grow up with, but I like them even more now. They are fabulous to my boys. I love seeing all of them toss a football around in the backyard. I guess they prepared me for what a house full of testosterone would be like!

Thankful 30...

I am grateful for days that are happy from beginning to end. Today began with a chicken biscuit and a large coffee, which was followed by learning new, creative ways to teach writing. I spent an evening out with my trio of men watching Puss in Boots, and then the day ended with an email filled with good news. Thank you, Lord, for today!

Day Seven

I am very grateful for Henry Clay Brooks IV. It seems like we've been together forever, but it's really only been about 12 1/2 years. It's nice to be with someone who knows me so well that when I'm stressed, he knows that the best strategy is to set a bowl of chocolate mint ice cream beside me and then walk away to give me space. I love that Clay knows how to make me laugh hard enough to generate my very unladylike snort. I also really appreciate how no one else understands or appreciates my quirkiness quite like he does. He's a great husband (even if he is still messy after eleven married years of reminders to take out the trash), a very hard worker, and a fabulous dad to our three boys. Thank you God for making sure Clay and I took American Lit together all those years ago.

My Little Story Teller Strikes Again

Once upon a time, there was a dog and a knight. The princess was in a dark, scary forest doomer. And the witch got her! She locked her in the tower, and the witch made DNA. The princess drank it up. She grow and grow and grow and grow and GROW! The knight killed the princess because the DNA made her grow bad. Very bad. So the knight finds a new princess. The end.

Hmmmm...a bad DNA drinking princess? Interesting.

Still Thankful :)

Day Six

I am very grateful for the 33 years I got to spend with my grandmother. She taught me a lot, including how to make a fierce sock-it-to-me pound cake and how a smart cooks cleans as she goes, so her kitchen isn't a mess when her meal is done. My grandmother also gave me some very important wedding advice. She said, "Be careful what chores you pick when you get married. You'll be stuck doing them for the next fifty years." Thanks to her I chose laundry, not dishes! I miss her a lot, but I'm grateful to know that I'll see her again. :)
